American music has become difficult to define in the 21st Century, but a hundred years ago Jazz told stories of a Great War, a Great Depression, and a great cultural divide. Prohibition made alcohol manufacturing and sales illegal, which led to bootlegging and underground Speakeasies. Jazz was a risk that Americans took, and it paid off like no one expected.

Prohibition Records Official Launch Party

We had a successful launch in New Orleans April 10-12 2017, directly following French Quarter Fest! A number of our friends appeared in America's largest free festival, including Tom Saunders and the Tomcats. The 12 piece, 1920s style Jazz orchestra closed the Fest with a set on the Supreme Court stage in perfect weather, and we can safely say it was a hit with the dancers!

Check out Dave Hull singing "Hullabaloo"!

Limited time offer: David Hull's first solo album "Learning Curve Blues", released when he was 12 years old.

For donations of $12 or more we'll send you a copy of the original 1997 release.

To commemorate the album's 20th anniversary, Hull is producing an album featuring special guests from New Orleans and California. On August 29th, 2017 Prohibition Records will release the new album in Cannabis dispensaries in California, record stores in New Orleans, and online. We'll send you both albums for your generous donations of $25 or more.

Each Prohibition Records project is supported financially by fundraisers, crowd funding campaigns, and member donations. Our Member Network provides touring artists with logistical support such as street promotion and artist hosting. If you'd like to host an artist or join the street team, let us know on our Member Application. We depend on volunteers for main events and house concert hosts to go on tour, and we love sneaking our members special perks like unreleased recordings and postcards from tour!
